Simone Bosé appointed President of Universal Music in Iberia

Simone Bosé has been appointed President of Universal Music Iberian Peninsula. Effective immediately, he will overseeing all of the company’s operations in Spain and Portugal.

Based in Madrid, Bosé reports to Jesús Lopez, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Latin America and Iberian Peninsula.

This new role for Bosé is a return to Universal Music for him, having previously worked at the company’s Mercury label in Spain from 1992 to 1999 including as Director of A&R and Marketing, Director of International Exploitation and Managing Director.

After leaving Universal Music in 1999 Bosé was one of the founding partners of independent music company BajaMusic. In 2004 he joined EMI as General Manager of EMI Music Spain and in 2009 was promoted to Chairman of EMI Music Spain and Portugal.

During this time he worked with artists including Bebe, Amaral, Bunbury, Macaco, Luz Casal, Estrella Morente, Mariza, Carminho y Camane and Pablo Alborán, the best-selling new act in 2011 and 2012 in Spain and Portugal.

Bosé succeeds Fabrice Benoit who recently left the company.  Lopez said: “I’d like to thank Fabrice for all his work over the years and wish him the best in his career.”

Universal Music Iberian Peninsula is home to artists including Alejandro Sanz, David Bisbal, Paulina Rubio, Manuel Carrasco, Antonio Orozco, Rosario, Antonio Carmona, Paco de Lucía and Miguel Poveda among others.Music Business Worldwide
