Shawn Holiday promoted to Head of Urban Music at Sony/ATV

Shawn Holiday has been promoted to Head of Urban Music at Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

The newly-created position will run parallel to his recently-assumed role as Co-Head of Urban Music at Sony Music’s Columbia Records alongside Phylicia Fant, which was announced last month.

His promotion also comes just two-to-three months before the arrival of Jon Platt as boss of Sony/ATV.

Holiday will be based in Los Angeles and oversee the company’s urban music operations, reporting to Co-Presidents, US Danny Strick and Rick Krim.

He initially joined Sony/ATV in 2011 in the role of SVP, A&R/Creative and was appointed Senior Vice President, Urban A&R for Columbia in 2013.

At Sony/ATV he has worked closely with a number of songwriters and artists, including Cardi B, French Montana, Bryson Tiller, Daniel Caesar and Travis Scott who he signed to a publishing deal ahead of the release of his US No.1 album Astroworld.

Holiday was named on Billboard’s 2018 Hip-Hop Power List and he was recently featured on Variety’s Hitmakers List in recognition of his success with Cardi B and Travis Scott.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Shawn for many years and this promotion is truly well-deserved and a valuable one for Sony/ATV.”
