Reservoir signs deal with Stone Temple Pilots frontman Jeff Gutt

Reservoir has signed Stone Temple Pilots frontman Jeff Gutt to a worldwide publishing deal.

The deal includes global rights to Gutt’s entire catalog of titles, including Stone Temple Pilots’ self-titled 2018 release, plus future works.

Gutt joined STP after a global search to find someone with whom the band could not only perform their hits, but collaborate on new material.

He was hired nearly three years after the death of long-time STP frontman Scott Weiland in 2015.

As STP drummer Eric Kretz explained, “Jeff beat everybody out in every area, especially the [song]writing process; Jeff, just hands down, won that one.”

Four months after assuming the lead role within the band, Gutt and STP released Stone Temple Pilots (2018), the band’s first record in eight years, on which Gutt co-wrote every track.

The group is currently on tour in North America in support of the album, which stormed the Billboard Rock charts upon its debut.

Gutt appeared as a contestant in Season Two of the American reality series The X Factor in 2012. He was invited back for Season Three, finishing in second place and racking up more than 50 million views during his time on the show.

In addition to his current gig with Stone Temple Pilots, Gutt is a founding member of another alt-rock band Rival City.

Rival City toured the globe, performing for mass audiences in the Middle East, Europe, India and the US. He also has another album in the works with a band he started just before joining STP.

“I’ve been a longtime Stone Temple Pilots fan since their debut in the 90’s, and it’s as a fan that I got to know Jeff’s story, his writing and his voice,” said Reservoir SVP of Creative and A&R Spek who signed Gutt to the roster. “We at Reservoir look forward to working closely with Jeff, his team, and STP as he travels the world and wins fans one song at a time.”

“I’m looking forward to working with the Reservoir team towards a long and mutually rewarding relationship,” adds Gutt. “I thank them for their partnership and support!”Music Business Worldwide
