Republic Records ups Simon Katz to VP of A&R and Staff Producer

Republic Records has promoted Simon Katz to Vice President of A&R and Staff Producer.

Since joining the team as Senior Director of A&R and Staff Producer in 2015, Katz has discovered, signed and developed artists including Dagny, Two Feet, Mondo Cozmo, and more.

He is based at the company’s Los Angeles office.

A multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer, Katz is also the founder of two bands signed to Republic Records.

His first band Iglu & Hartly released the 2009 hit In This City and performed everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo.

In 2013, his next group Youngblood Hawke released their full-length debut, Wake Up, featuring the hit single We Come Running, which has earned syncs from Coca-Cola, Netflix, FIFA 13, the Olympic Games, and more.

He has also become an in-demand producer, songwriter, and mixer in his own right.

Katz also conceived and oversaw the build out of the official 6,000 square foot Republic Records Studios in Los Angeles, which has been the site of recordings by everyone from The Weeknd to Metro Boomin and Amine within only a year of its 2017 opening.

“As a musician and creative himself, Simon understands artists on a level foreign to most senior music executives.”
