Realize Music, with Tuned Global as strategic partner, launches ‘Sing’ VR game with 1m+ licensed tracks

Realize Music has launched its virtual reality singing game on Meta Quest, featuring more than 1 million licensed tracks from Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Beggars Group.

The company plans to expand the platform to PC gaming via Steam in 2026, according to the announcement.

Las Vegas-based Realize Music was founded by veterans from Devolver Digital, Sony, Rockstar and Guitar Hero. The company has struck partnerships with major labels and several independent publishers.

The app called Realize Music: Sing “turns your voice into play,” according to Realize Music. The company initially partnered with UMG and Warner Music in December 2024 to bring 1 million tracks to the app. At the time, the company said more deals are on the way.

The company has tapped Tuned Global to provide the backend music infrastructure to enable catalog delivery, lyric integration and weekly content updates. Con Raso, CEO of Tuned Global, said: “Realize Music: Sing is a breakthrough moment for music-driven wellbeing.”

Users can preview songs for free, purchase individual tracks or albums, or subscribe for unlimited access. The subscription launches at $9.99 monthly for the first two months, then increases to $14.99 per month or $119.99 annually.

The virtual world responds to a user’s pitch and rhythm through light, motion and color. Each song generates a unique setting that changes based on vocal input, with synchronized lyrics displayed word by word.

Realize touts the game as a wellness tool that “channels the physiological and emotional benefits of vocalization.” The company noted that singing activates the vagus nerve and triggers the release of endorphins and oxytocin. The activity can lower blood pressure and improve circulation, the company said.

Co-founder Mike Wilson, known for establishing Devolver Digital and Gathering of Developers, has described the project as his final major venture in the gaming industry. Wilson’s previous work focused on games with emotional depth and creativity.

Wilson said: “We’ve always believed that games can help people feel better, not just entertained.

“Sing is about rediscovering joy without judgment or pressure, through the simple act of raising your own voice and watching the world respond. It’s the kind of project I’ve always hoped to finish my career on, and I hope it inspires other creators to focus their energies on beneficial media.”

Tuned Global’s Raso added: “We’re proud to support the Realize Music team with innovative music technology that empowers their vision and brings it to life in such an exciting way. From licensed catalogue delivery to lyrics and reporting, Sing shows what becomes possible when creativity, wellness, and responsible music innovation come together.”

Sing invites both confident vocalists or beginners. The music library covers multiple genres including pop, rock, R&B and soul, spanning decades of releases. New tracks are added weekly.

The timing of Sing’s launch on Meta Quest has been delayed from the originally planned January 2025 launch. Realize Music also previously said that it is developing versions of the app for AppleSamsung, and Sony PSVR2 devices, as well as adaptations for mobile devices, PC and Mac computers, smart TVs, and other media.

For the music majors, the partnership marks their latest effort in the wellness sector.

In 2022, UMG partnered with music wellness tech company Music Health on an app called Vera, which is meant to help dementia patients through music.

In 2023, UMG struck a partnership with Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Global to create Sollos, a music-centric wellness app. That year, UMG also partnered with generative AI startup Endel to create “AI-powered, artist-driven functional music” for sleep, running, relaxation, and other purposes.

Last year, MBW unearthed a patent from Universal for a method to generate binaural beats and add them to existing music. These beats can be used to generate various mental states. Also last year, UMG announced it had partnered with Cardiff-based Rescape Innovation to explore a new virtual reality treatment for anxiety that incorporates personalized music.

Earlier this year, UMG partnered with Apple Music to launch Sound Therapy, a science-backed “wellness collection,” marking UMG’s latest venture in the music-wellness space. The two companies said the new venture leverages scientific research and UMG’s proprietary audio technologies to “[harness] the power of sound waves, psychoacoustics, and cognitive science to help listeners relax or focus the mind.”

Warner Music has also invested in the wellness space. In 2022, it joined a $14 million funding round for LifeScore, a music tech company focused on sleep, health, and wellness, among other things. LifeScore launched its own music label in 2023.

WMG also partnered with British health tech startup MediMusic in 2023 to explore the potential of music as a therapeutic tool. And its label Spinnin’ Records signed a deal with Endel in 2023 to create 50 AI-generated wellness music albums.
