After raising $4m, Symphonic Distribution hires ex-Beatport exec Peter Wohelski

US-based Symphonic Distribution has hired the former Senior Label Manager of Beatport, Peter Wohelski, as its new Content Development Specialist.

Wohelski brings over 25 years of experience in the electronic music space.

After starting out as a club and radio DJ in the early ’90s, Wohelski went onto to become Director of A&R at prominent US dance label Astralwerks, as well as General Manager for Detroit Techno legend Carl Craig’s Planet E Communications imprint, before becoming a long-time Account Manager at Beatport.

He also recently spent a stint as an A&R consultant and strategic label manager at German-born distribution company finetunes, which was acquired by Sony Music last year.

During his career, Wohelski (pictured) has overseen the execution of marketing and promotion strategies for major artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Tiesto, as well as influencing the direction of such independent label success stories Dirtybird, Off Recordings and Kinetika Records while at Beatport.

CEO of Symphonic Distribution, Jorge Brea, said: “I am excited to have Peter Wohelski as a part of the Symphonic Distribution team. With a recent fundraise and one of our strongest years to date, Symphonic is poised to be repositioned as one of the world’s leading music distribution services.

“Adding Peter will help us redefine our product and service offerings as well as ensure that our current and future record label and artist clients have an experienced industry leader to lean on for their development.”
