Rachel Chernoff appointed SVP of Data Science and Analytics at Sony Music Entertainment

Sony Music Entertainment has appointed Rachel Chernoff to the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Data Science & Analytics.

Based in New York, she reports to Dennis Kooker, President of Global Digital Business (GDB) at SME.

Chernoff leads a newly combined team that brings together the GDB group’s Strategic Analytics and Data Science functions and is responsible for driving the continuing growth and prioritization of the Company’s data capabilities worldwide.

Working in partnership across the SME Partner Development, Global Product, and Sales and Analytics teams, Chernoff is focused on continuing to enhance and develop analytic- and data science-based tools, techniques and expertise that support the needs of Sony Music’s labels and businesses around the world.

She also leads the ongoing evolution of SME’s data capabilities with external partners worldwide.

For the last three years, Chernoff has served as Senior Vice President of Partner Development for SME.

In that role, Sony says that Chernoff has been responsible for driving revenue and growth opportunities with the company’s largest commercial partners around the world, and overseeing the GDB group’s Partner Development team, including its partner analytics efforts.

Previously she was VP, Analytics & Research for SME, working in GDB’s Sales team to generate data and insights that enhance the commercial results of artist releases.

Prior to that, she spent five years in a number of different analytics roles within Sony Music, adding critical context to a rising tide of information coming from streaming partners and social networks.

Before joining Sony Music in 2012, she worked in various roles in finance before going to business school to transition into the music industry.
