Quincy Jones’ OneOf teams with Warner-backed virtual concerts firm Wave to launch NFT for metaverse artist Teflon Sega

Virtual entertainment company Wave is expanding into the NFT space in partnership with Quincy Jones-backed NFT platform OneOf.

Wave and OneOf are launching a so called ‘fan-edition NFT’ for a virtual artist called Teflon Sega (EMPIRE).

Described as a “metaverse-born musical artist and producer”, Teflon Sega has 106,000 followers on Instagram and over 356,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Wave’s virtual concert platform has previously attracted investment from the likes of Tencent, Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin.

In January last year, Warner Music Group invested in Wave, taking a minority equity position in the company.

Wave has worked on interactive gigs for artists like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.

OneOF, which raised $63 million in a seed round in May 2021, entered into its own partnership with Warner Music Group in January this year, which will see OneOf create exclusive NFTs for the major music company.

OneOf is co-founded by tech entrepreneur Lin Dai, executive Joshua James and music industry figure Adam Fell, in partnership with Quincy Jones and Quincy Jones Productions, and the company has hit the ground running when it comes to the business of NFTs.

Wave teamed up with Teflon Sega on March 16 to create the virtual artist’s first ever live performance in the metaverse – Dimensions Vol. 1.

The new NFT coincides with the follow-up virtual concert, Dimensions Vol. 2, described as an interactive music experience that will take place on the virtual performance platform Wave.Watch on May 12 at 6pm PT.

The Teflon Sega NFT drop will include an exclusive fan-edition concert poster that will be given to all first show attendees, supporters of Wave, and OneOf VIP pass holders.
