Pulse Music Group acquires music supervision firm Hitcher

Pulse Music Group has acquired boutique music services firm Hitcher, which specializes in synch placement, marketing and music supervision.

As part of the deal, Pulse will absorb Hitcher into its film and television division. Hitcher founder Joe Rangel has been named Head of Sync, Creative & Licensing at Pulse Music Group.

The firm was formed in 2013 through a partnership between Rangel and Pulse Music Group, and has since provided licensing and marketing services for the US music publisher, including sync for all media and music supervision.

Hitcher’s client roster has also included Prince, Cash Money, Island Def Jam, Parlophone, 300 Entertainment and Universal Republic.

Rangel’s shares in Hitcher will be purchased by Pulse, and he will now oversee all aspects of sync and licensing worldwide for the company.

Scott Cutler, co-CEO of Pulse Music Group, said: “Pulse has always had a great relationship with Joe and Hitcher since day one.

“when Josh and I decided to build out our internal film and television division, bringing Joe in to lead it was the obvious decision.”

“The work that he and his team have done has been an important part of Pulse’s continued success, so when Josh and I decided to build out our internal film and television division, bringing Joe in to lead it was the obvious decision.”

Fellow Pulse co-CEO Josh Abraham added: “Synch placements, particularly in film and television, are as important now to artists’ success and longevity as they have ever been.

“Having a world-class film and TV team is crucial for us to provide our songwriters with every possible opportunity to share their music with the world.”
