The Prodigy’s label in Canada signs deal with Universal

Universal Music Canada (UMC) has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Toronto-based electronic label FMLY Records.

FMLY Records is a Canadian music company with a roster of artists includes The Prodigy, Rusko, Ferry Corsten, New World Punx, Guiliano Rascan, Cyzon, and Plain Language.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with the FMLY Records team, who are such influential and important international EDM experts,” said Steve Nightingale, Director, Marketing & Business Development, Universal Music Canada.

“The independent leaning dance scene is long overdue for a powerful label champion; Universal Music Canada/FMLY are prepared to fill that void through creating ventures like this new partnership. This FMLY partnership gives international DJs and Producers a solid foundation in Canada, one of the scene’s most essential markets”.

FMLY founders Seb Webber and Brandon Ginsberg built their reputations as music managers with Red Light Management, based in Los Angeles.

“FMLY Records was started to give Electronic artists worldwide a platform to release and promote their material in Canada, an extremely valuable market which usually gets buried inside traditional record contracts. With major festivals like Veld, Bal en Blanc etc., some of the biggest acts in Canada are touring the country without a team promoting their records.

“FMLY Records have signed some of the biggest acts in electronic music and are also signing some of the freshest talent in Canada and worldwide.”

The first full length album release to come through the partnership is the new album from The Prodigy, who announced their sixth studio album The Day Is My Enemy, due for release in the territory on 31 March 2015.

The LP is coming out on Cooking Vinyl in most of the world.Music Business Worldwide
