[PIAS] revives dance imprint Different

[PIAS] has revived its electronic music-focused imprint, Different Recordings, after a three-year hiatus.

In the past, Different was responsible for releasing acclaimed dance records like Etienne De Crecy’s original Super Discount and Vitalic’s influential OK Cowboy.

It has also issued records from Tiga, Crystal Castles, Agoria, Crystal Fighters, The Hacker and more.

Different’s new signings for 2015 include German house act Claptone (pictured), new NYC/Dublin hip house act Bon Voyage, and French electro-psych artist DBFC.

“The relaunched different has a simple remit: to find, develop and release the best new electronic music.”

The label’s A&R activity will be led by Russell Crank – a musician and the MD of Bad Life Management.

Crank said: “It’s such a pleasure to be at the steering wheel of one of my favourite all time labels, and excited to write a new chapter in it’s long, rich history.’

Kenny Gates, co-founder and CEO of [PIAS] said: “Ever since we founded [PIAS] over 30 years ago electronic music has been one of the cornerstones of our output. We have always had a deep love for it in all its forms and it is very much part of our company’s DNA.

“I am delighted, therefore, that we are re-launching the Different label, which after three years away is back with a simple remit; to find, develop and release the best new electronic music from around the world.”Music Business Worldwide
