[PIAS] Cooperative signs new deal with Sunday Best Recordings

[PIAS] Cooperative, the associated labels group that partners with independent record companies to help fund and develop their repertoire on an international basis, has announced a new agreement with Sunday Best Recordings.

Rob da Bank created Sunday Best in February 1995, originally as a weekly club night and launched label division Sunday Best Recordings two years later.

Originally known for releasing groundbreaking compilations that introduced the world to then unknown artists such as Groove Armada, Lemon Jelly and Bent, Sunday Best’s own repertoire expanded significantly from 2003. These days the label’s eclectic roster includes the likes of Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, David Lynch, Valerie June, Kitty Daisy and Lewis among others.

The label is now overseen by Rob da Bank, Ben Turner and Sarah Bolshi.

Jason Rackham and his team have been instrumental in the ongoing success of the label.”

Sunday Best has released over 200 singles and nearly 100 albums since first partnering with [PIAS] for distribution in 2003 and is the sister company to the multi-award-winning Sunday Best festival division, which runs Bestival, Camp Bestival, Common People, LEAF and Bestival Toronto.

This new deal with [PIAS] is a global agreement excluding the US and Japan.

Sunday Best Recordings has also announced a raft of recent new artist signings, which include: Xylaroo, Alice Jemima, L.A.Salami, Solar Bears, and Laucan among others.

All of these artists will be releasing material under this new agreement in 2016.

Rob da Bank, “Sunday Best has been working with [PIAS] in one way or another since 2003 so this new agreement was a no-brainer. Jason Rackham and his team have been instrumental in the ongoing success of the label and we look to continuing our great relationship with them for many more years to come.”

Jason Rackham, Managing Director of [PIAS] Cooperative said, “ The guys at Sunday Best are part of the family here at [PIAS] so of course we’re delighted to have agreed a new deal with them.

“They have made a number of fantastic new signings and continue to set the standard for high quality independent music.”
