Luis Estrada

Luis Estrada is a Buenos Aires-based music executive and President of Universal Music Southern Cone.

In this role, Estrada oversees Universal’s operations in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Bolivia, reporting to Jesús López, Chairman & CEO Universal Music Latin America and Iberian Peninsula.

He took the President role in 2020, stepping up from his previous position as Managing Director of Aftercluv, Universal Music’s dance platform for the Latin market.


Luis Estrada: Career to date

Luis Estrada started his career in music as both the manager of, and a singer-songwriter in, the Mexican rock group Los Lagartos.

He joined Universal Music in 2001, initially as New Trends Marketing and A&R Manager at Universal Music Music Mexico.

In 2008, he was named General Manager of Universal Music Latino, before becoming the head of Aftercluv in 2016.

On taking the role of President, Southern Core at UMG in 2020, Estrada said: “The Southern Cone has always been one of the richest regions of the world in culture, arts and music. Today, it finds itself in the midst of exciting growth across mobile penetration, game-changing platforms, music consumption, new technologies and innovative business models, as well as a new generation of artists with global potential.

Estrada has a degree in Arts and Marketing from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) and an MBD from the University of Southern California (USC).Music Business Worldwide
