Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) and UK-based indie label and publisher NWS Music Group have signed songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Zach Nahome to an exclusive worldwide music publishing agreement.

Nahome, who was named Producer of the Year at MBW’s 2025 Music Business UK Awards – voted for by a panel of senior industry figures – was the executive producer of Olivia Dean’s sophomore release The Art of Loving, producing, writing, or co-writing the majority of the album’s tracks.

His other artist collaborations include Pink Pantheress, Loyle Carner, Justin Bieber, Maverick Sabre, Slowthai, Teezo Touchdown, Bakar, Celeste and Biig Piig, as well as emerging artist Tendai.

“Songwriters with Taste and execution at his level don’t come around very often.”

In addition, Nahome’s music has driven major sync placements for campaigns with Apple, Calvin Klein, Été de Chanel, Lexus, EA Sports, Beats, Zillow, Flannels and Burberry.

“Zach is an endangered species,” said UMPG’s Head of A&R, UK Pete Simmons.

“Songwriters with taste and execution at his level don’t come around very often, and getting to know him and his process the past few months has been a joy. It’s a pleasure to be on his team alongside his manager, Laura Singer, and our friends at NWS.”

“Nick [Raphael], Christian [Tattersfield], I, and everyone at NWS are delighted to be working with UMPG on the next chapter of Zach’s already illustrious career.”

BEN BODIE, NWS MUSIC GROUP

London-based independent NWS was founded by former Capitol Records UK president Nick Raphael, ex-Warner Music UK chief and Good Soldier Songs founder Christian Tattersfield and Ministry of Sound Publishing co-founder Ben Bodie in 2022.

“Nick [Raphael], Christian [Tattersfield], I, and everyone at NWS are delighted to be working with UMPG on the next chapter of Zach’s already illustrious career,” said Bodie. “Our combined efforts and enthusiasm will no doubt propel Zach even further into the songwriting stratosphere.”

Last year’s Music Business UK Awards also recognised UMPG’s Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson, who received the International Executive of the Year honour.

In her speech, the UMPG boss took the opportunity to address the challenges faced by songwriters amid the rapid rise of AI, noting that “the work of a music publisher is a constant fight to ensure that songs are valued and that songwriters are properly compensated”.Music Business Worldwide
