Nick Barr named Vice President, A&R and Creative Strategy at Island Records

Nick Barr has been appointed Vice President, A&R and Creative Strategy at Island Records.

In his new position, Barr will play a key role in signing new talent, while bringing his marketing, digital, and creative strategy to the label, it says.

Based in Los Angeles, Barr will report jointly to Imran Majid and Justin Eshak, Co-CEOs of Island Records, for A&R, and to Mike Alexander, General Manager, for digital and creative marketing.

Alexander was named General Manager of Island Records in January.

Alexander’s appointment at Island followed the naming of Majid and Eshak as Co-CEOs in June 2021.

Barr began his music career while attending college in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2014.

 

While there, Barr helped develop the career of Khalid, who was then an unsigned 17-year old singer from El Paso, Texas.

Over the past few years, Barr has worked on various creative and digital campaigns for 300 Entertainment, Interscope Records and Capitol Records.

He has also played a role in kickstarting the digital strategy for Lil Tjay’s track Calling My Phone, and current single, In My Head.
