Spain-headquartered SonoSuite, which provides white-label SaaS digital technology services for the music industry, has joined IMPALA as a ‘Friends’ member.

IMPALA is a trade body that represents many of the world’s biggest independent record labels in Europe. IMPALA’s “Friends of IMPALA” initiative is designed to facilitate collaboration between companies and the independent music sector.

Membership to the ‘Friends’ program requires an annual fee and a one-year membership is subject to approval by the IMPALA Board).

Other members of the program include Spotify, YouTube, metadata firm AudioSalad, and music business management software Reprtoir, among others.

“We are thrilled to join the Friends of IMPALA program and stand united in our dedication to empowering independent music businesses,” said Maarten Van Wijck, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman at SonoSuite.

“IMPALA’s initiatives closely mirror our own, and we are committed to working together to achieve these important goals for the independent music sector,” Van Wijck added.

Barcelona-headquartered SonoSuite says it recognizes that the music industry is “a dynamic and ever-changing organism,” where technology and music formats continually intersect.

It offers a white-label platform that allows indie record labels and music distributors to deliver their catalogs, manage royalty payouts and reports. Its partners include SoundExchange, Merlin, PPL, IFPI and Worldwide Independent Network.

The company says it aligns with IMPALA’s dedication to fostering growth in the independent music sector. This involves optimizing commercial prospects, establishing regulatory frameworks, enhancing market accessibility, refining financing avenues, promoting genuine diversity, and advocating for sustainable business practices.

SonoSuite added that its inclusion in the Friends of IMPALA program is part of its efforts to support initiatives that return more value to indie artists and labels.

“We are delighted to welcome Sonosuite as a Friend, an established music tech company that has been around since the beginning of the digital transformation of the music sector,” said Helen Smith, Executive Chair of IMPALA.

Added Smith: “We are committed to common goals, especially one of our main priorities, making the music sector more sustainable and green. I look forward to our multi-year partnership with Sonosuite, which will enable us to work on long-term projects.”
