Music college BIMM expands into Germany

British-born music and music industry education institution BIMM is expanding into Germany, opening its first college in Berlin in October.

The BIMM Institute in the UK has spawned chart-topping artists including BRIT Award winners Tom Odell and James Bay (pictured), chart-topper George Ezra and million-selling rock band The Kooks.

Its Berlin operation will be based in the modern music facilities in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district of Berlin, and managed by BIMM’s partner Noisy Musicworld.

All BIMM Berlin students will be offered the chance to study their second year at BIMM London.

BIMM Berlin’s first Open Day is on February 14th, 2015.

The college will offer UK degrees validated by the University of West London: BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship courses in Drums, Bass, Vocals and Guitar, as well as BA (Hons) Music Business and BA (Hons) Songwriting courses, all taught in English.

Vaseema Hamilton, principal of BIMM’s London, Brighton and Bristol colleges, said: “Opening BIMM Berlin has long been a personal goal of mine, and just like Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Manchester and London, Berlin is a creative and forward-thinking city. It is a perfect place for our students to study and develop their talent. They will gain a fantastic introduction to Berlin’s unique music scene and contemporary culture.

“I don’t believe there is any other current contemporary music industry institute that is offering the incredible option to study in both Berlin and London; and with the wealth of transport options, it’s so easy for students to move between these two amazing cities.”

Robert Witoschek, the Noisy Academy Manager, said: “We are really looking forward to cooperating with BIMM. This will close the gap between Berlin’s music scene and the high standards of Britain’s music education and music scene. We have the same philosophy as BIMM, so we can’t wait to welcome the BIMM students here in Berlin.”Music Business Worldwide
