Australia-born music company Mushroom Group’s talent booking division is launching a new booking agency called MBA.

The newly launched agency represents a new partnership with Guven Yilmaz (previously Vita Music Group).

Led by Yilmaz, Mushroom says that MBA will specialize in live bookings and strategy, touring and partnerships.

The company will be based in both Melbourne and Sydney. The Sydney office will be led by former Niche agent Matt Thomson, who represents Winston Surfshirt, BIG WETT, Club Angel, Skeleten, bella amor, and more.

In addition to Yilmaz, MBA’s team includes Matt Thomson, Shelley Liu, and Sam Rogers.

MBA will represent many artists from the Vita roster in addition to established and upcoming talent including Peking Duk, Bliss n Eso, Conrad Sewell, Skin on Skin, Winston Surfshirt, BIG WETT, Kaylee Bell, Milan Ring, Tasman Keith and many more.

Commenting on the launch of the new agency, Mushroom Group Chief Executive Matt Gudinski, said: “We’re delighted to have Guven join the Mushroom family. He’s a very well-respected agent and operator, with an incredible track record to boot.”

“Mushroom has been esteemed as the independent leader in the Australian music and entertainment industry. Partnering with a company that not only emphasises but promotes an independent entrepreneurial culture was essential to me.”

Guven Yilmaz added: “Mushroom has been esteemed as the independent leader in the Australian music and entertainment industry. Partnering with a company that not only emphasises but promotes an independent entrepreneurial culture was essential to me.

“Matt Gudinski has long been successful in the touring realm, and he’s continued to foster a culture that empowers those he works with. There was room for a new and dynamic offering within Mushroom, so partnering with Matt on MBA was incredibly appealing and a natural progression,” he continued.

“We’re proud to offer the culture and approachability of a more agile business, while providing the resources of a larger one. We’re about ensuring personalised attention from our team, who will work closely with clients to ensure we amplify our artist and manager’s touring strategies.”

Frontier says that the new structure has been created to “ensure the legacy, mission, and culture of Frontier is preserved and nurtured” following the passing of its founder Michael Gudinski in March 2021.

Established in 1979 by Michael Gudinski, and part of the Mushroom Group, Frontier Touring is one of the most prominent touring companies in the Southern Hemisphere.

In 2019, Frontier entered into a strategic joint venture with AEG Presents.

In March last year, Universal Music Group‘s Virgin Music Label & Artist Services (VLMAS) division entered into a global partnership with Australia’s largest independent label group, Mushroom, to support and distribute Mushroom artists’ releases worldwide, outside of Australia and New Zealand.Music Business Worldwide
