Morrissey has signed a new record deal, and is – at the time of this article being published – releasing a new album on November 17.

The British icon has inked a partnership with BMG, who will issue Low In High-School in tandem with Morrissey’s own label, Etienne Records.

You might think BMG are brave souls for taking on the campaign.

But the Bertelsmann company see things quite differently.

Korda Marshall, EVP of BMG, said: “There are not many artists around today that can compare to Morrissey. He is an extraordinary talent. He is prodigious, literate, witty, elegant and above all, courageous.

“His lyrics, humour and melodies have influenced many generations. The music on this new landmark record will speak for itself and we are delighted to welcome him to BMG.”

Low In High-School will be Morrisey’s 11th solo album.

His previous effort, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, was signed to Universal via Harvest/Capitol Music Group.

Things started well for the campaign and ended… not so well.

The record is currently unavailable on iTunes and streaming services as a result.

Low in High-School was recorded in two places: La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios.

The album has been produced by Joe Chiccarelli.Music Business Worldwide
