Mongolia’s Sonsy launches as country’s ‘first world-class music streaming service’

B2B music streaming company Tuned Global powers a number of localized music streaming services in various markets.

The company has partnered on the launch of the likes of Plern in Thailand, Mjams in the Pacific Islands, Sewasew in Ethiopia, and Greenland’s Tusass Music, which all focus on local languages, cultures, and artists.

Now, Mongolia has become one of the latest markets to get its own localized DSP.

The country’s Mongol Content LLC has tapped Tuned Global to launch Sonsy, a streaming platform designed specifically for the Mongolian market, and claimed to be the market’s “first world-class” DSP.

The collaboration marks the latest expansion for Tuned Global‘s white-label streaming technology, which now operates in more than 70 countries.

The company provides the streaming infrastructure that allows local partners to build streaming services without developing the technology from scratch.

Sonsy will compete directly with players like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and MMusic Mongolia, which offers a library of Mongolian music.

Unenbat Baatar, CEO of Mongol Content, said: “Launching Sonsy marks a major milestone for Mongolia’s digital music industry. Backed by our 20 years of experience in the Mongolian market and long-standing support for local artists, Sonsy combines cultural heritage with cutting-edge technology.”

“By partnering with Tuned Global, we gain from international expertise, and reliable streaming solutions enabling us to deliver a world-class experience while creating new opportunities for Mongolian talent to reach wider audiences.”

Added Baatar: “By partnering with Tuned Global, we gain from international expertise, and reliable streaming solutions enabling us to deliver a world-class experience while creating new opportunities for Mongolian talent to reach wider audiences.”

Sonsy launches with multiple subscription tiers (Individual, Duo and Family), a freemium model, and offline mode. Tuned Global’s technology handles the backend requirements of music streaming, including content delivery, security, licensing, and data analytics.

Mongol Content brings nearly two decades of experience in the Mongolian digital media market through its existing platforms including gogo.mnyolo.mn, and maamuu.mn. The company already distributes Mongolian music through its Mongolmusic division, providing relationships with local artists and labels.

“By combining our global streaming expertise with Sonsy’s local vision, we are delivering a world-class music experience that connects audiences with the artists they love.”

Sonsy promises support for Mongolian artists through per-stream royalties, promotional support, and collaboration opportunities to help them reach audiences at home and overseas. The platform also offers “international-grade” listening experiences, including “CD-quality sound,” and “gold-standard security and reliability.”

Con Raso, Tuned Global’s Managing Director, said: “We’re excited to partner with Sonsy to support the growth of Mongolia’s music industry.

“By combining our global streaming expertise with Sonsy’s local vision, we are delivering a world-class music experience that connects audiences with the artists they love. This partnership demonstrates how data and AI can enrich individuals’ music journeys and unlock new opportunities for local creators.”

For Tuned Global, the Sonsy app adds to its portfolio that spans telecommunications, fitness, gaming, health, media and aviation, working with brands such as Delta Air Lines, Lululemon, Samsung, Line Music, Gabb and Reactional. Recent partnerships were struck with AI-powered analytics firm Zetaris, AI music startup AudioShake and Beatdapp.

Earlier this year, Tuned Global expanded its Social Radio platform, launched in November 2024, with a real-time tipping feature.
