Markus Wenzel named President of Universal Music Publishing Germany

Universal Music Publishing (UMP) has promoted of Markus Wenzel from Managing Director of UMP Germany to the a role of President, UMP Germany / SVP, Austria, Switzerland, UMP, effective immediately.

Wenzel will report directly to Paul Connolly, President of Europe and UK, UMP, and Frank Briegmann, President Central Europe & Deutsche Grammophon Universal Music International.

Wenzel joined the company in 2002 as MD of Universal Music Publishing Germany and has evolved to be responsible for Universal Music Publishing Group’s entire operation in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, overseeing UMP, the production music companies UPPM and Kapagama, as well as Ricordi, Universal’s classical music publishing company.

Prior to Universal, Wenzel began his career as a music manager and label executive, including stints at BMG Ariola and Sony Music, and went on to run his own successful Superstar Recordings imprint.
