Marc Johlen appointed Managing Director for Germany, Switzerland and Austria at BMG

BMG has appointed Marc Johlen as Managing Director for its operations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA).

He will lead BMG’s integrated music publishing and recording business in its largest operation outside the US and UK with a brief to “drive growth and innovation in the region”.

Johlen, previously Vice President A&R Publishing at the company, joined BMG in 2020 to lead its GSA publishing team, where the company says he has made significant contributions to its roster.

Under his leadership, BMG has signed songwriters and producers including Robin Schulz, Montez, Lucry, Céline, Esther Graf, Bunt., Michael Schulte, 1986zig, AVAION, Boris Brejcha, YouNotUs, Aside, UFO361 and more.

Johlen will be based in Berlin and report to Maximilian Kolb, EVP Continental Europe Repertoire & Marketing.

BMG’s schlager label Telamo, led by CEO Ken Otremba, will continue to report to Kolb.

GSA is BMG’s third largest territory after the US and the UK.

BMG’s local recordings roster includes multi-Platinum certified artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Solomun, Marteria, No Angels, Max Giesinger, Lucry & Suena, Kitschkrieg, Trettmann, Cro, Liaze und Aylo.

Prior to joining BMG, Marc Johlen held key positions at Budde Music, where he was responsible for Kelvin Jones, Nico Santos, Alle Farben, YouNotUs and, in particular, the international success story of Alvaro Soler.

“I am confident that our GSA operations will thrive under his leadership.”
