Live Nation acquires Hong Kong-based festival promoter Clockenflap

Live Nation has acquired a majority interest in Clockenflap, a Hong Kong-based event organiser.

Clockenflap specializes in music festivals and concerts, and its flagship Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival is described as “one of Asia’s best-known festival brands”.

The Clockenflap team will continue to curate, manage and produce its festivals and events, now with access to Live Nation’s festival portfolio and resources, according to a media release.

Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival made its return over March 3 – 5, after a four-year hiatus, with a sold-out event that featured artists including Arctic Monkeys (UK), Balming Tiger (Korea), Bombay Bicycle Club (UK), The Cardigans (Sweden), Chai (Japan), HYBS (Thailand), Leenalchi (Korea), Milet (Japan), N.Y.P.D (Hong Kong), Wu-Tang Clan (US) and Yellow (Taiwan).

Founded in 2008, the three-day, 30,000-per-day cap festival takes place annually at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront Event Space.

The festival has announced the dates for its next edition, which will take place from December 1 – 3, 2023.

Clockenflap also organises regular touring concerts in Hong Kong under the brand Clockenflap Presents, with recent sold-out shows announced for Cigarettes After Sex and Honne.

Live Nation says that its partnership between with Clockenflap comes as events across Asia, particularly in Hong Kong, are seeing “a bloom in activity”.
