Laufey has renewed her global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music.
The Icelandic-Chinese artist — a two-time Grammy Award winner and, according to the Recording Academy, the youngest-ever recipient of Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album (for Bewitched, in 2024) — first signed with the publisher in August 2023.
Since then, Laufey has released two further albums, won a second Grammy (for A Matter of Time, at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2026), and is currently in the middle of a sold-out world tour spanning 22 countries.
A deluxe edition of A Matter of Time — titled A Matter of Time: The Final Hour — is due on April 10, featuring four new tracks. Laufey will also make her literary debut later this month with a children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, out April 21 via Penguin Random House.
Laufey said: “Excited to be in continued business with the wonderful, progressively minded people at Warner Chappell. Thank you to Gabz, Guy, Carianne, Ryan and David for their belief and partnership.”
Ryan Press, President, North America at WCM, added: “Laufey’s a generational talent with a gift for songwriting that feels both timeless and entirely new. A visionary with her own distinct sound, she continues to push boundaries, bringing a fresh perspective to everything she creates. We’re proud to continue championing her at this exciting point in her career as she further defines her global legacy.”
Gabz Landman and David Goldsen, A&R at WCM, said: “We are deeply honored to continue our partnership with Laufey, an artist who continues to redefine what it means to have a genuine and lasting impact on culture. Her singular artistry and masterful songwriting have captivated audiences around the world, while her sharp entrepreneurial instincts and heartfelt philanthropic work speak to a vision that extends far beyond the stage.
“To witness her journey has been a privilege, and we could not be more committed to supporting everything she does next.”
Background
Raised between Reykjavik, Iceland, and Washington, D.C., Laufey learned piano and cello as a child before studying at Berklee College of Music. There, she wrote her debut EP, 2021‘s Typical of Me, whose lead single Street by Street debuted at No. 1 on Icelandic radio.
Laufey signed a recordings deal with AWAL — the Sony Music Group-owned label — in 2021, and extended that partnership in November 2023 following the release of Bewitched, which broke the record for the biggest debut for a jazz album on Spotify.
Her third album, A Matter of Time, was released in August 2025 via Vingolf Recordings and AWAL, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Jazz Albums chart. The album won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 68th Grammy Awards in February, beating out nominees including Lady Gaga, Elton John and Brandi Carlile, and Barbra Streisand.
The company says Laufey has accumulated more than 8 billion global streams to date and a social media audience of over 25 million.
Her list of accolades includes a Forbes 30 Under 30 designation, a spot on TIME‘s 2025 Women of the Year list, and the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Falcon — one of Iceland’s highest state honors — which she received in January 2026.
The renewal adds to a run of publishing signings and extensions at Warner Chappell Music. In September 2025, the publisher renewed its global deal with Kacey Musgraves, and has since signed songwriter-producer Andre “Dre” Harris and singer-songwriter Margo Price, among others.Music Business Worldwide
