LastMinute.com founder leaves Shazam board

Brent Hoberman has resigned as a Director of Shazam Entertainment Ltd after three years on the firm’s board.

Hoberman is an internet entrepreneur who, with Martha Lane Fox, founded one of the biggest dot-com success stories, online travel portal LastMinute.com, in 1998.

He joined Shazam as a Director in December 2012 but, MBW has discovered, parted ways with the UK company on December 31 last year.

Shazam, a company registered in the UK, has lost £25m in the past three years, but has a user base in excess of 120m people.

The firm is currently experimenting with the exclusive distribution of certain releases.

It was owed $1.2m by Rdio, which filed for bankruptcy protection in November last year.

Shazam Entertainment Ltd has nine remaining officers following Hoberman’s exit:

  • Bridget Kerle (Secretary)
  • Christopher Barton (Director)
  • Andrew Fisher (Director & Chairman)
  • Robert Krolik (Director & CFO)
  • Nenad Marovac (Director)
  • Matthew Murphy (Director)
  • Rich Riley (Director & CEO)
  • John Sykes (Director)
  • Lauren Zalaznick (Director)
