Kobalt signs lease for ‘technologically advanced’ 23,000 square foot New York office

Kobalt Music Group has signed the lease on a new 23,000 sq ft office in New York’s popular Meatpacking District.

The company will take the entire 6th floor of 2 Gansevoort Street – a nine-story, landmarked office property situated at the intersection of West 13th, Horatio and Gansevoort Streets in the Greenwich Village Historic District.

Kobalt will relocate from 220 West 42nd Street in Midtown at an unconfirmed date in the near future.

The news comes two months after Kobalt announced that it had raised $75m in a round led by Hearst Entertainment.

The new office lease deal was put together by Sage Realty Corporation, the leasing and management division of The William Kaufman Organization (WKO).

“We believe Kobalt is a perfect fit for our building, which is technologically advanced, and situated at the epicenter of New York’s booming creative/tech community.”

Renovations at Kobalt’s new office include a new lobby and front entrance designed by Fogarty Finger Architects.

Built in 1912 and originally designed as a warehouse and trade school, the 210,000-square-foot property at 2 Gansevoort Street was acquired by the William Kaufman Organization in 1948. Current tenants at the building include Theory, Ennead Architects, and Coronado Biosciences.

Kobalt was represented in the transaction by Greg B. Taubin and Scott Bogetti of Savills Studley, while Michael Lenchner, Vice President and Director of Leasing at Sage Realty Corporation, represented building ownership in-house.Music Business Worldwide
