Juice WRLD and Nick Mira named biggest artist-songwriter and songwriter in the US in Q4 2021, on the NMPA Gold & Platinum Program (based on RIAA certifications)

The National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) has announced the top songwriters for Q4 2021, including the top artist-songwriter and top non-performing songwriter for the period.

During October, November and December of last year, 1,695 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum certifications were awarded.

Juice WRLD, published by BMG, received 51 certifications posthumously – the most of any artist-songwriter.

That included 14 Multi-Platinum level certifications for hits such as Lean Wit Me, Robbery and the nine-time Multi-Platinum Lucid Dreams.

The top non-performing songwriter, meanwhile, was Nick Mira, who is published by both Kobalt and Universal Music Publishing Group.

He received 18 certifications for Bandit, Empty and Robbery, among many other massive hits with Juice WRLD.

In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters and publishers of RIAA-certified singles.

RIAA counts both sales and on-demand streams towards its Gold (500,000), Platinum (1 million) and Multi-Platinum (2m+) thresholds.

Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.

The full list of songwriters and publishers honored in Q4 can be found here.

“Juice WRLD was a phenomenal talent gone too soon. An astounding 51 certifications speak to his innovation as an artist, and to have accomplished such a feat at such a young age is astounding.”

David Israelite, NMPA

NMPA President & CEO David Israelite said:  “Juice WRLD was a phenomenal talent gone too soon. An astounding 51 certifications speak to his innovation as an artist, and to have accomplished such a feat at such a young age is astounding.

“His loss is felt greatly as we acknowledge his incredible success.

“We congratulate his frequent collaborator, Nick Mira, who was a huge contributor to those achievements, and we are excited to see how he continues to create exciting and moving music.”

“Thank you to the NMPA and David Israelite for recognizing Juice WRLD and I’s shared accomplishments.”

Nick Mira

Nick Mira added: “Thank you to the NMPA and David Israelite for recognizing Juice WRLD and I’s shared accomplishments.

“No amount of words could describe how grateful I am for Juice and the fans who continuously show love and support to the music.

“None of this would be possible without Dorien Theus or Jarad; and everyday without Juice, me and Dorien are still reminded that he left a remarkable impact on this universe.

“Thank you again to all the fans who have showed endless love and to the NMPA for this award. I am forever thankful.”Music Business Worldwide
