John Fogarty’s New Songs signs admin deal for Elvis hits and more

New Songs Administration Ltd have made a multi-territory deal to administer the A Schroeder International catalogue, mainly containing works written or co-written by the late Aaron Schroeder.

New Songs stepped up its operation after its founder, UK-based John Fogarty, sold his previous business – Minder Music – to BMG last summer.

The Aaron Schroeder International catalogue is owned and controlled by Aaron’s widow Abby Schroeder, and includes Rachel’s Own Music, Big A Music LLC and Little A Music LLC.

The catalogue contains works recorded by Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Perry Como, Cliff Richard, Bobby Vee, Roy Orbison and many others.

Works include “It’s Now or Never” by Elvis Presley, most recently featured on the platinum album “If I Can Dream” which reached No. 1 on the UK album charts in the UK before Christmas.

Other classic songs include “Rubber Ball” recorded by Bobby Vee, “Because They’re Young” recorded by Duane Eddy and “Glad All Over” recorded by The Beatles, plus 12 other major titles recorded by Elvis Presley, including “I Got Stung”, “A Big Hunk O’Love” and “I Was The One”.

“Writing for Frank Sinatra and elvis – two iconic artists at the peak of their respective careers – was pretty amazing.”

John Fogarty, New Songs Administration

New Songs Administration’s director John Fogarty said, “Aaron Schroeder is a songwriter sometimes overlooked in the pantheon of great songwriters. Just look at the list of artists who have recorded his works – it’s breathtaking.

“From Rock & Roll Elvis to Frank Sinatra crooning, his breadth of genres in amazing. ‘I Was The One’ was actually the ‘B’ side of Heartbreak Hotel which was Elvis’s debut single for RCA in 1956 after leaving the Sun label.

“The song ‘French Foreign Legion’ was recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1958 in the Capitol Tower building with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra.

“Writing for these two iconic artists at the peak of their respective careers in two entirely different genres was pretty amazing.”

Aaron Schroeder continued to write and collaborate with artists through the 1990’s and most particularly Barry White.

“It’s an honour to represent such a fantastic catalogue,” said Fogarty.

“We are going to actively work on placing such wonderful songs in TV and commercials.”Music Business Worldwide
