YouTube – Director, Music, Creator and Consumer Communications (US)

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of experience leading TV and Film publicity and awards campaigns.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with major entertainment industry events and conferences. Experience managing internal teams and PR agencies.
  • Existing list of press contacts with consumer and entertainment journalists.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and efficiently manage multiple high-profile campaigns simultaneously.
  • Ability to be persuasive when presenting to larger groups or in regular meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to quickly craft press releases, blog posts, and production notes. Ability to demonstrate good judgment in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and writing/grammatical skills.
About the job

As the Director, Creator and Consumer Communications at YouTube, you will work with senior leadership to help craft and execute our overall creator and artist communication strategy against YouTube’s business objectives. This work includes creating an overall narrative of how YouTube creates global moments, developing creator stories, and promoting YouTube Originals and YouTube Premium services. To do this, you will lead the Consumer, YouTube Originals and Music communication teams that span across the country.

In this role, you’ll contribute experience as a communicator to build consensus across YouTube. You’ll need deep and relevant industry expertise, effective reporter relationships, excellent writing and communication skills, and an ability to learn fast and move faster in an ever-changing environment. You’ll be a creative problem solver and compelling storyteller capable of earning trust – both internally and externally.

Lead consumer communications team responsible for proactive campaigns around successful and up-and-coming creators/media partners, large consumer events and communicating success stories of YouTube’s creators.
Devise groundbreaking PR strategies to drive YouTube’s entertainment business objectives, managing PR efforts in association with the company’s entertainment subscription services (e.g., YouTube Premium).
Work closely with YouTube’s Partnerships and Entertainment Sales team to identify and publicize key partnerships/creator/celebrity success stories. Manage and cultivate partnerships with general entertainment, and digital reporters, proactively pitching key media to further entertainment initiatives.
Lead a team responsible for publicizing YouTube’s Original series and movies to consumers and industry partners across our YouTube Music app, labels, and other industry partners.
Identify opportunities to promote successful production and partnership efforts at YouTube Space LA, as well as highlight YouTube’s investment in entertainment partners.
