Job Description
As the Creative Licensing Manager at Warp Publishing, you will play a pivotal role in finding opportunities for our catalogue and maximising revenue streams through strategic licensing initiatives. You will be at the forefront of forging partnerships, negotiating deals, and ensuring the proper utilisation of our artists intellectual property. This position requires a blend of creativity, business acumen, and a passion for music and entertainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Licensing Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive licensing strategies to optimise the utilisation of our catalogue across diverse mediums including film, TV, advertising, gaming, and more.
- Sync Opportunities: Securing sync opportunities in the UK & Europe with a focus on advertising, gaming and new business in sync, leveraging existing relationships and actively seeking out new partnerships.
- Grow and foster a network of music supervision and other contacts in Advertising, Film/TV, Trailers and Videogames, proactive in creating new client relationships
- Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate relationships with potential licensing partners including production companies, advertising agencies, gaming studios, and other content creators.
- Negotiation: Lead negotiations for licensing agreements, ensuring favourable terms and maximising revenue potential while safeguarding our intellectual property rights.
- Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, review, and execution of licensing contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements.
- Catalogue Management: Responsibility to identify the music that is primed for licensing opportunities, working closely with our catalogue team to ensure correct metadata.
- Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market demands, and competitive landscape to inform licensing strategies and identify new business opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams including legal, finance, marketing, and creative to ensure seamless execution of licensing initiatives.
- Customer Service: Serve as a primary point of contact for licensing inquiries, providing exceptional customer service and addressing partner and client needs promptly and professionally.
- Attendance of Live Shows: Attend live performances and events, networking with industry professionals and identifying potential licensing opportunities.
- New Business Development: Proactively seek out new business opportunities and revenue streams, exploring innovative licensing models and partnerships to expand our market reach.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyse the performance of licensing deals, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Oversee Relationships with Sub-Publishers: Manage relationships with our sub-publishers worldwide, ensuring alignment with overall licensing strategies and maximising global reach.
- Management of Licensing & Composer Manager: Supervise the Licensing & Composer Manager, providing guidance and support in their role.
- Collaboration with Warp Records Licensing Team & US Licensing Team: Work closely with the teams to align strategies and opportunities across our shared catalogue.
Professional Background & Experience
- Proven track record in creative licensing, with at least 5 years of experience in music publishing, a record label, sync agency and/or related industry i.e. advertising or production
- Extensive client base and contacts in the world of advertising, film, TV, and the wider creative community, demonstrating a strong network and ability to leverage relationships for business growth.
- Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to close deals and drive revenue.
- Deep understanding of intellectual property rights, copyright law, and licensing practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for music and entertainment, and a keen eye for market trends and opportunities.
- Curious mind with a natural inclination to explore new ideas and approaches.
- A passion for independent music, knowledgeable about music publishing and enthusiastic about providing a great service to our artists
- Proactive problem solver with a “can-do” attitude, able to navigate challenges and find creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident and enthusiastic with the ability to talk engagingly about music and contemporary culture in general;
