Overview

The Orchard has an opening for a Classical specialist to join The Orchard on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. This will involve overseeing key classical labels and digital retail relationships globally, as well as driving the development of Classical music at The Orchard as a whole.

Essential to this role is an extensive knowledge of classical repertoire as well as a core understanding of the digital retail market place and the complexities of working with classical in this space. The role will involve working closely with The Orchard’s label management and marketing teams across the globe to create compelling retail campaigns for our classical labels.


What you will do
  • Manage and maintain day-to-day relationships with key classical labels from around the world.
  • Manage & maintain day-to-day relationships with DSPs, including classical specialist stores and classical editors at global accounts.
  • Drive & grow classical business, leading content acquisition and business development in the classical space.
  • Manage the Classical Sales & Label Manager to oversee all classical labels, ensuring all their needs are met and that all classical content is delivered in a timely manner and to required internal & retailer specifications.
  • Strategize and manage priority release campaign logistics from timely inception through to analysis, working with other internal departments as necessary, including interactive marketing and advertising.
  • Create and present marketing pitches to classical editors at global accounts and specialist classical stores, following established Orchard pitch process. Work with accounts to develop creative campaigns, driving engagement with classical repertoire.
  • Prioritise classical release schedule according to label needs, and proactively communicate analysis and results to labels and management.
  • Identify and execute high-revenue classical catalogue opportunities.
  • Create metrics and case studies around content performance and visibility, impact of marketing initiatives and retail response to promotion.
  • Work with other team members to educate, train and assist in classical best practice as required.
  • Drive product adoption of The Orchard’s tools and services across the client base.
  • Liaise with various departments, from finance and marketing to legal and management to ensure all labels business needs are met.
  • Represent The Orchard Classical at internal and external events and conferences as required.
  • Develop industry relationships in the classical space, across labels, DSPs and media.

Who you are

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A solid working knowledge of classical repertoire and an understanding of work and movement structure, composers, composer catalogue numbers, etc. is essential.
  • Strong industry network and relationships within the classics space.
  • Proven experience in a classical label, distributor, DSP or similar environment.
  • A strong understanding of digital distribution and marketing is required.
  • Music degree not required, but desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to liaise with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English with additional languages desirable.
  • Able to travel as required.
