Single Music – Director of Business Development (US)

Single Music is the first, and only, dedicated music distribution app for Shopify – the world’s leading direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform. We are used by thousands of the largest names in the industry (Foo Fighters, Travis Scott, Juice WRLD). We create solutions (D2C Digital, Livestream Ticketing, Chart Reporting) for major merchandisers (Live Nation, Wallflower, Absolute Merch) and independent musicians alike. Currently growing at a rapid pace, Single aims to change the music industry’s understanding of the direct-to-consumer market and help artists of all sizes grow their careers by enabling artists to own their relationships with fans.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with priority/assigned artists, managers, agents, and labels to ensure exclusive content and preferred status for Single Music initiatives
  • Actively seek out new and up-and-coming artists to establish relationships with Single Music
  • Liaise with product development team on feedback, needs, and suggestions coming from priority/assigned artist contacts
  • Help create and maintain a central database of target/priority artists, managers, and labels
  • Develop and maintain a weekly internal reporting system of highlights and important notes from the Artist Relations department
  • Provide weekly research reports for key industry metrics, charts, and news items
  • Assist with special initiatives, cooperations and promotions for artists in cooperation with Marketing department
Secondary Job Responsibilities:
  • Reporting back to the larger team on trends, major news items
  • Contribute ideas and propose initiatives for improving artist relationships
  • Create and maintain a central resource for the promotion of Single Music artists and their latest news items
  • Create and maintain a resource for Single Music services available for use by artists, management, and label teams
Qualifications
  • Established professional industry network (Management, Labels, Artists)
  • 5 years experience in Artist Relations or similar role; music tech/SaaS highly preferred
  • Proficient in Keynote/Google Slides, CRMs (Zendesk), and Numbers/Google Sheets
  • Experience writing for a blog a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel for conferences or other in-person events (when safe to do so)

This can be a remote position, but Nashville Metropolitan candidates strongly preferred.
