Job Description
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic paralegal with a passion for music law to join our Legal & Business Affairs Team in Liverpool. You will report directly to the Head of Legal & Business Affairs and work closely with all teams within the business. This role offers opportunities for growth and provides a fantastic foundation for a career in the music industry.
The ideal candidate will have a background in intellectual property, specifically focusing on music rights, licensing, and contract management. This role involves providing comprehensive administrative and legal support, including research, basic drafting, and managing various legal documents to ensure compliance and protection of our music catalogue.
Additionally, the role requires project management, building and optimizing processes, coordinating with various stakeholders to support business operations, and handling a range of administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support, including research, basic drafting, and document management.
- Manage and update contract templates to reflect current industry standards and legal requirements.
- Assist in project management, including planning, executing, and finalizing projects within set deadlines.
- Build and optimize processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the legal team.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand and support business processes and goals.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with artists, industry professionals, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Prepare and process legal documents and correspondence.
- Maintain and update records to ensure they are accurate and compliant with regulations.
Qualifications
- Law degree or relevant equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience as a paralegal.
- Experience in music publishing or the music industry is desirable.
- Precise attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with technology and CRM systems (e.g., Hubspot, Salesforce).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and technology-driven environment.
- Solid understanding of legal and contractual frameworks in the music industry, including copyright, licensing, and intellectual property.
- Ability to draft, review, and negotiate basic agreements with strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with maintaining and updating contract templates.
- Team player with a professional work ethic.
- Positive approach to problem-solving.
- Passionate about music and the music industry.
