Position Summary:
The Managing Director of Radio will oversee all operations of the Secretly Group Radio Department. You will manage a dedicated promotions team, develop and implement strategies to achieve airplay goals, foster and maintain relationships with artist and label teams as well as cultivate relationships with stations and industry leaders, nationwide. This position reports to the VP of Operations, Americas. The position could be based in our Bloomington, Brooklyn, Chicago, or Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the radio promotions team to ensure all radio goals are achieved across the Secretly Group roster
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for growing and establishing an artist’s footprint at radio
- Manage the internal radio team and external third parties, developing best practices, systems and a division of duties that maximizes the department’s abilities
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, and station representatives
- Travel regularly for station meetings, radio promotion tours, acting as liaison between stations and artists
- Work closely with label’s Marketing, Projects, and A&R teams, developing a road map to drive airplay, contributing to long-term artist planning and album campaign strategies
- Work with label teams to determine single selection and sequencing, recommending radio edits as needed
- Weekly reporting, presenting and educating label staff on promotion activities, campaign progress and effectiveness
- Analyze data and identify actionable responses for audience growth in respective markets
- Create and manage budgets for pre- and post-release album campaign cycles
- Monitor and approve departmental budgets, including staff travel and promotional activities
- Develop airplay forecasts with regular updates to artist and label teams
- Work with discretion across proprietary information
The Ideal Candidate Demonstrates:
- 7+ years’ experience in radio promotion with a proven track record meeting campaign goals
- Expertise across multiple radio formats, including AAA, Alternative and Non-comm
- History of fostering and maintaining healthy relationships with radio stations, artists and management teams
- History of success developing artist’s careers and leading campaigns of high charting singles at commercial radio formats
- An existing network within the radio industry
- Managerial experience, proven leadership skills
- A passion for music and a familiarity with Secretly Group repertoire
- Experience with Mediabase and BDS airplay reports and translation of analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and be adaptable in a fast-paced working environment
- Information gathering and monitoring skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- A willingness to work nights, weekends and travel as needed
- Experience in collaborating with various label and promotions teams
