Saban Music Group – SVP, Commerce (US)

The Senior Vice President, Head of Commerce will be responsible for all revenue-generating for Saban Music Group’s roster of 360 artists. The ideal candidate will have a significant list of contacts for cultivating and managing relationships across streaming, brand partnerships, synch licensing, merch and touring. The ideal candidate will be a talented, entrepreneurial, charismatic self-starter with an insatiable thirst for closing deals and growing revenue. Must be a star relationship-builder who can lead with charisma and contribute creatively while driving the business forward.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Devise a revenue growth strategy for SMG and each artist on the roster through data, contacts and planning
  • Maximize exposure and revenue of current new music releases while maintaining an eye on the long-term revenue growth opportunities
  • Oversee and coordinate all domestic/international revenue opportunities to increase market penetration through innovative commercial solutions for SMG
  • Think globally while maximizing revenues on a territory-by-territory basis, leaving no revenue opportunity untapped
  • Manage and ensure partner experiences with SMG artists are strategic and effective
  • Measure and analyze partner-specific campaign performance and provide insights and key learnings to other departments
  • Regularly communicate status of artist campaigns and new initiatives with internal teams, making strategic recommendations as necessary
  • Present and educate SMG team and artist managers on consumer behavior, marketplace changes, and competitor data
  • Advise on content configuration and best practices specific to assigned commercial partners
  • Work with DSP sales head and finance team to develop sales forecasts for all SMG artists
  • Partner with internal departments (marketing, A&R, production and research) to execute effective revenue and marketing strategies
  • Manage team consisting of SVP of DSP Commerce and a sales / marketing coordinator
  • Identify and implement tools needed to maximize revenues; effectively maximizes current SMG partners (i.e UMG, Virgin, UMPG, etc)
  • Goal: Achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales targets
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-10 years of commercial sales experience within the media and entertainment industry preferably in the music industry
  • Extensive list of CMO direct contacts, ability to speak directly to brand decision makers
  • Social strategy and paid media planning experience
  • Strong background and understanding of all music revenue streams including streaming, publishing, touring, brand partnership, merchandising, etc.
  • Experience in all aspects of music industry, including Latin
  • Aggressive appetite to constantly seek new opportunities; an “ahead of the curve” mentality
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong project, organization, and communication skills
  • Lives, sleeps and breaths music with intense passion to close deals and maximize revenue
  • Ambitious self-starter able to work with minimal direction
  • Ability to proactively and productively thrive in an entrepreneurial setting, while being receptive, open-minded and objective when encountering diverse points of view
  • Travel for industry and artist events as needed
  • Spanish-language proficiency preferred but not required
