Royal Mountain Records is a Toronto-based record label and artist-management company rooted in a community-minded and artist-ﬁrst ethos. Royal Mountain is renowned for oﬀering the guidance needed for artists to build sustainable careers, providing an uncommon level of support that extends to the company’s pioneering mental health initiative. Having built their reputation working with artists like Alvvays, U.S. Girls, Wolf Parade, Orville Peck, METZ, Calpurnia and Mac DeMarco, Royal Mountain has emerged as a stronghold of formidable talent while working outside the conﬁnes of the traditional music industry.
The label has an exciting release schedule lined up for the remainder of 2021 and 2022 and is looking to expand its presence in the United States by hiring a US-based General Manager. The ideal candidate comes with numerous years of experience in the United States music industry and a strong network of contacts. We hope to find a person who can take their expertise and know-how and help to build the Royal Mountain Records brand and our artist roster in the United States.
WHO YOU ARE:
The ideal candidate has exceptional understanding and experience in the music industry (ideally a record label or distribution background). This person must have a solid knowledge of what running a label and release campaigns day to day entails in the US market. You know what it takes to release a record in the United States, including logistics and the marketing and visibility aspects critical to each release. Strong relationships with key executives at streaming and digital partners is crucial. The ability to think out of the box and tap into marketing trends is a must.
This role will work collaboratively with the Canadian General Manager, label manager and project managers. It requires a wide-ranging skillset and the ability to work in a very fast-paced, forward-thinking label setting and requires a unique perspective to think ahead to help the label achieve its long-term goals.
You will play a key role in pitching and securing our artists’ visibility and repertoire across streaming platforms. You will create effective marketing campaigns that serve as vehicles to foster discovery and streaming growth. You will communicate regularly with our DSP partners so that our repertoire is top of mind for all opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Oversee: Build and manage robust, innovative and impactful marketing campaigns for priority projects alongside project managers in the United States.
Negotiate and manage marketing budgets for project campaigns
Work with Creative and Content Development, Digital and A&R teams to ensure comprehensive, cohesive delivery of all content and product-related elements
DSP Strategy: develop and maintain strong relationships and work specifically with DSP/Streaming service programmers (Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Amazon, Pandora, Tidal, etc.) to drive storytelling and strategy while collaborating with the corresponding account leads.
Partner Relations: Work with both label and marketing partners to develop a strategy and deliver necessary assets for the best go-to-market approach while being available for meetings to provide performance recaps.
Analytics: Query and speak to specific data points meaningful to account relations and artist/manager expectations, using these insights to determine your strategic next steps in growing a record in the market.
Market Strategy: Understand the demographics that comprise the artists’ fan bases and, based on the timeline and information provided, regularly develop and communicate playlist targets and streaming goals.
Marketing: help develop and foster a variety of marketing tools and communications targeted inside and outside the organization to ensure all priority content, assets, and drivers surfaced to contacts in a consistent, near real-time manner.
New Opportunities: consistently look to find new third-party partners that can help market and promote our releases. Also, work with pre-existing partners to develop new ways to help raise our artist profiles.

- Strong knowledge of the United States market and music industry
- Have built a strong network of contacts through your time in the industry.
- Preferably based in New York or Los Angeles
- Passionate music fan with broad knowledge of music
- Outstanding attention to organization and detail
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to communicate with all levels of global management
