We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a dedicated work ethic and a sharp mind who will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all incoming and calculated royalty data in accordance with contracts and copyright law. As the Royalties & Data Analyst, you will play an integral role within systems that record and manage data for catalogs, assets, and transactions.

The role reports to the Royalties & Data Manager and will work closely with the accounting, administration, marketing, and licensing teams.


To be successful, you should have:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 3+ years of relevant work experience in the music industry required
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (PowerPivot, Lookups, Macros)
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or other similar tools
  • Strong data analysis skills, including experience in analyzing music royalty reports
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of data and create reports from scratch requiredAccounting and/or finance experience required
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time to prioritize tasks
  • Must be self-motivated with an intellectual curiosity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Your responsibilities as the Royalties & Data Analyst will include
  • Reviewing statements and payments received from third parties for accuracy and completeness; following up with revenue sources as appropriate
  • Recording Net Publisher’s Share and Net Label Share across income types to the General Ledger
  • Preparing management reports using business intelligence tools to track and analyze earnings vs prior reports, projections and, streams & airplay data
  • Maintaining a deep understanding of investments, contract terms, and financial metrics
  • Proactively partnering with marketing, branding, content, and licensing teams regarding rights owned and revenue impact of projects to inform real-time decisions and opportunities
  • Engaging in desktop audits to recover revenue and blackbox income
    Identifying irregularities in reporting; synthesizing data to present to the administration and royalty audit teams for further review and correction
  • Helping to ensure compliance with all internal and external policies and regulations
  • Using best practices to improve the efficiency of processes and analyses
  • Communicating regularly and effectively with the team regarding all major issues impacting data and reporting

This position’s estimated base salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, years of relevant experience, business needs, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by Primary Wave. The salary range is subject to change at any time and depends on internal and external factors.
