Description

Partisan Records seeks an Accounting Manager to join its UK team based in London. The position is full-time, reporting directly to the CFO who is based in the company’s Brooklyn HQ.

Partisan Records is an independent record company with offices in New York, London, Berlin and LA. The company also owns the publishing company Left Music. The role will be an essential part of both the global finance and admin team, as well as providing a bedrock of support and specialist leadership for the UK team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Accounting:

  • Prepare month end close for CFO review
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monthly corporate credit card reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable for the UK/EU offices
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and collection / follow-up
  • Manage all aspects of the relationship with MGR, our UK tax firm
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of the label budget and forecasts
  • Work closely with the CFO to prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L and BS and cash flow statement
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Record intercompany transactions
  • Prepare and book annual transfer pricing entries
  • Book month-end recurring accrual entries
  • Assist in the preparation of semi-annual artist statements
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly mechanical royalty statements
  • Book allocation of all costs to projects
  • Assist in the Preparation of annual tax analysis package
  • Prepare fixed cost analyses
  • Prepare gross margin analysis by project
  • Clean up of international chart of accounts and P&L format
  • Collect and post monthly sales data by project from all distributors and D2C webstores
  • Collect and post monthly recharge data by project from all distributors
  • Track and follow-up on non-reporting distributors and sub-licensees
  • Assist in the running of pivot tables, research of actual costs, coding questions
  • Prepare and post inventory valuation reports
  • Preparation of various other analysis reporting
  • Post monthly payroll entries

Administrative Job Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Banking
  • Assist CFO in approving monthly staff expense reimbursements
  • Assist in standardizing employee T&E, health benefits and pension policies with US headquarters
  • Maintain office and travel insurance policies
  • Assist in office lease renewals

Office Management Job Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Miscellaneous admin
  • Compilation and distribution to staff of assorted office processes & procedures
  • Point person for office technology including equipment ordering and inventory, office internet and phone plans
  • General office management – ordering stationery & supplies and answer staff questions in relation to the office etc
  • Communication with the landlord especially in relation to maintenance and security

Skills & Experience

This role would suit a natural self-starter with an accounting background. Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 + years of experience
  • Music Industry experience
  • Previous role as an accountant or higher
  • Xero accounting software
  • Quickbooks accounting software
  • Curve royalty software, preferred but not required
  • VAT knowledge
  • Music royalties experience
  • Microsoft Excel expert (vlookup, pivot tables)
