You will have business responsibility for our relationship with Live Nation and AMG. Managing the naming rights for our 20 O2 Academy venues including world famous and prestigious O2 Academy Brixton, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and O2 Apollo Manchester. Nurturing and growing our relationship with Live Nation and seeking out Priority Tickets opportunities with key music promoters across the UK. O2 is the number one brand in music sponsorship and it will be your job to protect and evolve this position.

Up to 4 million people come through the doors every year and for some it’s their first taste of live music whilst for others it’s a regular pilgrimage. Either way it will be your job to help create an experience they won’t forget, thanks to O2.

You’ll also be responsible for developing commercial opportunities for O2 through music. We’re a mobile first, customer led business with music at the heart of O2’s DNA. You’ll make sure we’re working with the best in the industry to create offers, experiences and content our customers can’t get anywhere else.

Key Responsibilities

Partnerships. Build a solid, open and trusted relationship with the team at Live Nation and Academy Music Group. Your aim is to constantly demonstrate that O2 are a dynamic and valuable partner. Understand what they are trying to do so that we can all work better together.

Sponsorship. Manage the suite of rights that O2 own as part of the O2 Academy naming rights deal. Activate them in new and creative ways, always pushing the boundaries of what’s expected or has been done before. Execution through all our channels from TV to Twitter, our website to the Priority app.

Music Strategy. Work with Head of Sponsorship to evolve O2’s Music Strategy, aligning this with the O2 Brand and Sponsorship strategies.

Priority. Build relationships with artists, all major UK promoters across music and comedy, agents and managers to create world famous and iconic campaigns that lead the industry from A list level through to emerging talent.

Business development: Look for opportunities to develop new partnerships with Live Nation, other promoters, streaming applications and record labels across the industry that could bring additional benefits both to our customers and our business. Proactively bring new and exciting sponsorship opportunities to the table – both within the venues and the wider industry.

Key Skills/Experience
  • 10 years’ experience in sponsorship and marketing and have managed relevant high-profile partnerships.
  • A quality understanding of the music industry (particularly live) with experience working with promoters, labels, artists and managers.
  • You’ll need to have closed lots of deals and be a tough negotiator. We pride ourselves in building partnerships and creating mutually beneficial campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any one time and thrive working under pressure.
  • Manage people and invest time in developing them, helping them to excel.
  • Love working with and understanding what makes a great brand and sponsorship.

Additional Information
  • Budgets: Responsible for £multi-million budget across rights fees and activation that delivers measurable benefit to the brand and business.
  • Team: Lead the O2 Music Team. Extended agency teams will include advertising, media buying, customer comms and events.
  • Location: We have 20 O2 Academy venues nationwide, so you’ll be expected to visit them regularly. We are based at The O2 and London New Oxford Street offices, with Tuesdays at O2 HQ in Slough.
