The ideal candidate will have previous experience of venue operations, live music bookings and private hire, staff management, back-office admin and will be a Personal Licence Holder.

The Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing operations that lead to both the financial success of, and an excellent reputation for, the venue.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Setting and maintaining excellence in standards within the venue and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • A deep understanding of the venues vision for the future, organising and implementing plans to achieve these goals.
  • Building rapport and standing within the local community.
  • DPS of Notting Hill Arts Club.
  • Overseeing both Notting Hill Arts Club music venue and coffee hatch.

Day to day duties will include but are not limited to

  • Managing finances efficiently and effectively, including ensuring all invoices and payments are managed in collaboration with the venue’s accountant, meeting sales and profitability targets, and managing and meeting budgets.
  • People management duties including organising rotas and weekly staff payroll, staff training and development, recruitment, and creating a safe and positive work environment.
  • Back office and administrative duties, such as maintaining staff files, legal responsibilities such as CCTV records, Incident Records, Health and safety records, staff training records and risk assessments.
  • Overseeing and managing suppliers effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensuring the venues utilities and insurances are in order.
  • Maintenance within the venue.
  • Handling customer feedback and resolving any issues or complaints.
  • Overseeing the organisation and promotion of events and other entertainment activities through marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Responsible for people management of the Marketing Manager, Booking Co-ordinator, Duty Manager, and bar / coffee shop staff.

The Person

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous proven music venue management experience or experience of working at GM level for a venue.
  • Previous people management and recruitment experience in a hospitality environment.
  • Be a Personal Licence Holder (essential)
  • Some previous experience of working in a private hire environment (desirable).
  • Culturally aware and engaged.
  • Previous proven commercial success in a similar environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening).
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Focus on delivering excellent service at all times.
  • An active problem solver and logical thinker.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, proactive and positive.

  • Ability to deal with confidential information sensitively.
  • The ability and flexibility to work late nights where required.
