About The Role

The Director is responsible for developing partnerships and devising innovative strategies to drive success of the company’s artists at music streaming services. This includes maintaining direct relationships at Spotify and related platform partners. The core responsibility is to strategize and execute streaming campaigns for our artists with a focus on playlisting opportunities.

The successful candidate will bring existing relationships, experience, willingness and curiosity to develop innovative strategies that are effective at fostering deep engagement with our partners. This will support our aim of growing our artist’s audiences. The role involves collaboration with external stakeholders including artists and managers and internal stakeholders including our Marketing, Publicity, Digital, Analytics, Production, and A&R departments to drive streaming growth.

You are a seasoned music industry professional with a near decade of experience in promotion, marketing or the like. You’re quick to decipher best practices but even quicker to question them in order to innovate to push your work forward. You have a strategic mindset and get seriously excited at the opportunity to flex your creative strategy muscle.


Role Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the SVP to foster strategic relationships with Digital Service Providers (DSPs), with a focus on Spotify
  • Develop and execute strategies for new releases, priority singles and key catalog
  • Manage and grow close relationships with key contacts at priority partners
  • Develop and execute innovative & creative promotion partnerships with digital platforms
  • Pitch and secure editorial playlists, features and other promotional opportunities for our artists
  • Mentor and guide the broader team to understand and implement streaming best practices
  • Leverage marketing to help grow streaming narratives for priority moments in an artist’s campaign
  • Create regular reports and timely feedback on opportunities, product performance, successes, competitive trends, best practices and relevant market conditions
  • Research and share trends in playlisting, editorial, UGC, and assess the impacts to artists’ promotion strategies
  • Deliver account marketing strategy to maximize artist exposure and drive revenue
  • Collaborate with our internal analytics team to understand the evolution of audiences and artist communities to make the most effective decisions for our artists
  • Lead decision making when required to pivot during campaigns & adjust market strategy based on what data is showing us about our results
  • Advise other departments on best practices to maximize engagement opportunities (editorial support)

Role Requirements
  • At least 5 years in a relationships, promotional or creative strategy driven role at a record label, distribution company or DSP
  • An in-depth understanding of the Digital Service Providers landscape
  • Existing relationships with digital partners, primarily Spotify, but relationships with other DSPs, social media or related services would be an asset
  • Ability to imagine and build creative artist promotional campaigns to develop visibility on DSPs
  • Data-driven: the ability to analyze and use data to optimize streams and release strategy
  • Motivated by working with developing artists within a diversified roster
  • Strong ability to build trust and relationships, both within and outside of the team
  • Ability to communicate calmly and concisely and proactively manage complex and time sensitive matters
  • Flexibility for domestic and some international travel
