MPA Group of Companies – Music Publishing Executive (UK)

The Music Publishers Association is seeking a highly organised, pro-active, efficient and positive team player to work as its Music Publishing Executive, taking responsibility for specific licensing related duties as well as offering admin support to its staff and assisting with the smooth running of its office.

The successful candidate will be a naturally inquisitive individual with strong organisational skills and the agility to work on multiple projects to deadlines. They will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and pride in their work at all times. Applicants should hold strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating confidence in liaising with professionals of all levels, forging strong relationships and optimising opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as first point of contact for all queries from MPA members and wider public whilst managing the MPA ‘info’ inbox, researching, answering and fielding enquiries as appropriate;
  • Manage all aspects of MCPS sync licensing, negotiating and issuing sync licenses and applicable invoices on behalf of mandating publishers;
  • Fulfil all aspects of organising and co-ordinating board and committee meetings, including creating, compiling and circulating agendas, briefings and taking minutes;
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the administration of the MPA’s Richard Toeman Scholarship, the Graduate Certificate in Editorial and Production (GCEP) and the Graduate Certificate in Licensing (GCEL) professional development courses;
  • Assist the Membership Manager in carrying out the MPA’s member services, including membership renewals, researching potential members and seeking out membership offers including administration of the application process for Publisher, Student and Corporate Associate Members;
  • Administration of all the MPA agreements including the Service Bands Licence, its agreements with JCQ and CIE exam boards, the BBC EBU network

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in a busy office environment, preferably at a music publisher, have a flexible, positive approach to their work and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise.

A strong interest in music publishing is essential, as well as being an advocate for what the MPA is doing for its members.
