Label Worx – Head of Label Acquisitions & A&R (UK)

Since 2007, Hull-based Label Worx in the UK has specialised in providing digital tools and services to independent records labels worldwide. 

Working with more the 8,000 record labels in 144 countries, the company is one of the biggest dance distributors on the planet.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Artists, Content & Labels, the Head of Label Acquisitions and A&R will be responsible for securing new label clients, maintaining relationships with existing clients and leading the A&R policy of the business.

Main Duties 
  • A&R and new label acquisitions
  • Build and maintain relationships with labels and DSPs
  • Responsible for pitching key releases to DSPs like Spotify, Apple Music, Beatport and Traxsource
  • Working with labels to strategize promotional opportunities
  • Report release information, playlist targets and pitching materials to the DSPs
  • Generate progress and target reports to management
  • Identifying new trends, developing new and existing services
  • Upselling services to existing labels
Essential skills
  • A minimum of 3 and ideally 5 years’ experience in the music industry
  • Experienced in the dance music industry, digital platforms and new technologies
  • Working towards targets and reporting to upper management
  • Leading a team and delegating tasks
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Google Docs, DropBox etc.
  • Keen to learn and able to see jobs through to completion
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast pace environment
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of social media marketing
  • Ability to speak additional languages (Spanish, Italian, etc.)
  • Experience using project management and sales tools eg: Asana, Pipedrive
