Description

Y Royalties was established in 2023 by Colin Young, Ben Marlow and Gary Groutage. Offering services in Royalties Data, Rights Management, Audit and Transaction Services.

Y Royalties started from the Royalties division at Award Winning Accountancy firm, CC Young & Co, which has nearly 30 years of experience in the Music Industry this year. The success of this division along with our knowledge and experience gained over the years has enabled the birth of Y Royalties.

Our commitment to innovation led us to invest significantly in our data infrastructure in 2020. Our data warehouse now sits at the heart of all our services, enabling us to analyse royalties at the most granular level, highlighting trends, anomalies and opportunities in our client’s royalty income. The data warehouse is a driving force behind our catalogue valuations and due diligence, supported by a wealth of music industry and transaction experience, we aim to offer best-in-class services to all our clients.

Why join us?

Y Royalties is a data-led, relaxed and innovative workplace with a growing presence in the music rights space. Our Transaction Services team is small, agile and fast-growing — and this role is an opportunity to help shape its direction as we take on more high-profile projects.

You will learn about the flow of royalties, pitfalls of data, facets of different rights types, how to read publishing/record deals and everything needed to assist clients throughout the deal process and beyond.

You will have daily exposure to the senior management team – working closely with experts in the field will help to boost your personal development and enable you to contribute to the growth of an expanding, dynamic team.

JOB TITLE: Senior Analyst

An opportunity to join a fast-growing, highly specialised team, working closely with industry experts to develop skills and expertise in an exciting part of the business.

We’re seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Transaction Services team and take ownership of day-to-day project delivery while contributing to our most complex client engagements.

The music catalogue market has matured significantly. Investors now demand rigorous financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, and sophisticated valuation work. You’ll be at the centre of high-stakes transactions, providing the analytical rigour that underpins investment decisions worth tens of millions.

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting directly to one of our Directors, you’ll manage smaller transactions independently while supporting larger, more complex deals. You’ll supervise junior analysts and work alongside the data engineering team, sorting the progression of a growing team.

  • Leading financial due diligence on music catalogue acquisitions and sales
  • Managing data room processes, information requests, and deal trackers
  • Conducting granular royalty analysis, creating insight
  • Building and reviewing financial models for catalogue valuations
  • Drafting investment-grade reports and client deliverables
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members on day-to-day tasks
  • Liaising directly with clients, investors, and deal counterparties
  • Contributing analytical insights to complex, multi-workstream transactions

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years in transaction services, corporate finance, or similar deal environment – Big 4, boutique M&A advisory, private equity, investment banking, or comparable background
  • Excellent financial modelling skills – able to build robust, audit-ready models from scratch
  • Strong financial due diligence experience – comfortable leading key DD, working capital, and cash flow analysis
  • Report writing ability – can translate complex analysis into clear, client-ready deliverables
  • Project management capability – highly organised, able to manage multiple workstreams and keep deals on track
  • Team management experience – comfortable delegating, reviewing work, and developing junior staff
  • Self-sufficient and solutions-oriented – we need someone who takes ownership and doesn’t require constant direction

Desirable skills:

  • Formal accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Music industry or media/entertainment sector experience
  • Exposure to royalty economics, IP valuation, or recurring revenue business models
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and structured data environments
  • Experience preparing Q of E analysis for lending purposes

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

You don’t need to know music royalties inside-out on day one – we’ll train you on the specifics.

What matters is that you’re technically strong, commercially astute, and can operate independently at pace.

Our best performers are:

Analytical but pragmatic – you dig into the detail but don’t lose sight of what matters to the client.

Comfortable with ambiguity – catalogue deals can be messy; your role is to bring clarity to our clients.

Tech-savvy – we use bespoke tools and expect people to embrace data-driven approaches.

Collaborative – you’ll work across the business and need to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Equal opportunities

Y Royalties Ltd is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination, and in which all decisions are based on merit.
