Title: Social and Digital Media Coordinator
Status: Full-time
Hours: 40/week, Monday – Friday, 9am-6pm
Location: Merge Records’ office in Durham, North Carolina (hybrid)
Reports to: Merge’s Label Director
Company Summary: Founded in 1989, Merge Records is an independent, artist-run record label based in Durham, NC. We work with artists of various genres all around the world including Superchunk, Destroyer, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Clientele, Rosali, Fruit Bats, Ibibio Sound Machine and many more.
Position Summary: We’re looking for a creative and collaborative Social Media & Digital Marketing Coordinator to help share our artists’ voices and strengthen the Merge Records brand. In this role, you’ll personally shape how we engage with fans, artists, and partners online. If you love music, community, and storytelling, we’d love to meet you! Responsibilities:
Maintain Merge Records’ online presence and represent the label’s voice with care and authenticity.
Develop and run digital marketing campaigns to grow engagement, video views, and music streams.
Support Merge artists by sharing social media best practices and creative ideas.
Collaborate across teams to align content with campaigns, releases, and tours.
Produce engaging photo and video content in office and at events as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Demonstrates:
Experience producing and managing social media content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
Photo and video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a friendly, authentic tone.
Good organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
A genuine interest in music, storytelling, and digital marketing.
A collaborative attitude and enthusiasm for supporting artists and creative teams.
Familiarity with analytics tools and social media insights to track performance.
Knowledge of email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or similar.
Experience with Meta Business Suite or ad campaign management.
An understanding of the music or creative industries and how audiences engage online.
