Description
Social & Creative Lead (freelance, part-time with potential for full-time post launch)
Fairground translates real-world music scenes into a connected environment where discovery, community and direct support strengthen the culture that fuels them. We put the relationship between artists, venues, curators and fans at the centre – bringing music and commerce into a place built for participation, not passive consumption. By uniting each layer of independent culture, Fairground drives a collective movement that keeps independent music alive, visible, and fairly paid.
This is a role that will shape how Fairground communicates – defining its tone, visual language, and rhythm across social and creative channels. You’ll ensure everything we put out feels authentic, consistent, and rooted in the culture we represent. This role combines strategy, creative direction, and hands-on delivery – bridging the gap between brand storytelling and day-to-day execution.
We will only be able to consider your application if you evidence your experience by including the following in your submission:
- Summary portfolio highlighting what you’re most proud of, detailing your involvement in the work.
- List of links to work you’ve led or contributed to (for example: written copy, social media campaigns, videos, or creative projects that show your voice and execution)
Key Responsibilities
- Creative Direction & Content
- Develop and execute Fairground’s social storytelling strategy – from tone of voice and visual identity to recurring content formats and reactive moments.
- Generate ideas that bring our brand to life online.
- Collaborate with our content team (videographers, photographers, designers) to produce high-quality, culturally resonant content.
- Write engaging, platform-native copy that reflects Fairground’s voice – music-literate, and grounded in independent culture.
- Oversee creative treatments, artist/promo coordination and clearances.
- Manage post-production workflows and ensure output is delivered on time, on brief, and on brand.
Social Strategy & Ownership
- Build and own Fairground’s multi-platform content calendar (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Threads).
- Plan, schedule, and publish content consistently – balancing planned campaigns with real-time moments and reactive storytelling.
- Monitor analytics and performance using insights to refine strategy and creative direction.
- Develop channel-specific playbooks outlining cadence, formats, community tone, and engagement guidelines.
- Stay close to our industry network (artists, labels, promoters, venues) to identify upcoming opportunities – drops, shows, announcements – that can shape or amplify our social plan.
- Support pre-launch marketing initiatives, live activations, and Fairground’s initial platform rollouts.
People & Process
- Support the coordination of a rotating pool of freelance creatives – designers, photographers, videographers – ensuring clarity, deadlines, and consistent creative standards.
- Maintain brand kits and design systems (logos, motion graphics, caption styles).
- Produce weekly reports and monthly wrap-ups highlighting growth, performance insights, and cultural traction.
- Work closely with Leadership and Product teams to spotlight pilot releases, case studies, and new features across social.
- Help shape Fairground’s ongoing content strategy post-launch.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You Are:
- Deeply embedded in independent music and culture – you follow a broad selection of artists, venues, labels, promoters, DJs, photographers, and collectives.
- A sharp writer who understands how language, tone, and timing shape identity.
- Highly organised: you can juggle multi-platform schedules and deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Experienced in social storytelling and brand building, ideally within music, culture, or creative industries.
- Collaborative and hands-on – equally comfortable shaping long-term creative strategy as you are capturing raw BTS moments on your phone and turning them into authentic, next-day content.
- Curious, resourceful, and self-starting: you spot potential moments and make them happen.
What You Bring
- Proven experience managing social channels or campaigns for music, culture, or media brands.
- Strong portfolio showing platform-native creative, editorial storytelling, and measurable results.
- Comfort with content production workflows: briefing, shoot management, editing oversight, and platform scheduling.
- Understanding of analytics tools and metrics that matter.
- Fluency in the visual and written languages of underground and independent music scenes.
Bonus Points If You Have Experience In

- Copywriting for paid and organic campaigns
- Directing or producing live-capture content
- Collaborating with artists, management, and labels on creative rollouts

- Growth in followers, engagement, and waitlist conversions.
- Community participation from artists, curators, and grassroots partners.
- Increasing efficiency (turnaround time, cost per asset, template reuse).
- Qualitative resonance – credibility and shareability within target communities.
Benefits

- Flexible working hours and a remote-friendly environment.
- Opportunity to work on innovative platform features like scene-based search and discovery, progressive fan club models, and curator driven ecosystems.
