Instrumental – Senior Business Development Manager (UK)

Instrumental discovers online talent for brand and media partnerships. Our roots stem from finding the music stars of tomorrow, but today we also identify emerging influencers for brands to partner with to drive sales.

We’re a young, fun and inventive team of 16 based in London Bridge, are backed by venture builder Blenheim Chalcot, and have had investment from Warner Music UK. We are proud to call the likes of P&G, Coty, Vodafone and BBC Worldwide clients.

The opportunity:

Are you a proven sales hunter with a history of overachievement? Do you relish the start-up world and taking a new technology product to market? We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to roll out our new TalentAI music tool across the music industry. Driven by unique Spotify data science capabilities, the tool identifies and tracks unsigned artists growing on the world biggest streaming platform, and its success is critical to our ongoing growth.

  • Grow our sales pipeline from scratch and achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Manage the entire new business sales cycle, from lead through to close
  • Establish ideal buyer profiles and our value proposition by sector and persona
  • Build lists of target accounts and identify key executives
  • Launch targeted and personalised outbound campaigns centred on email and LinkedIn and driven by the best prospecting tools to generate prospects
  • Maintain a steady flow of client appointments to hit monthly revenue targets
  • Present to C-level decision makers over the phone and in face–to-face meetings
  • Operate consultatively during the sales cycle and present the best solution to the customer based on their challenges and goals
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and forecasting within Hubspot
  • Report to the CEO, communicating weekly successes and setbacks
  • Work with client management team to ensure smooth client onboarding
  • Based on your success, you could very quickly have a remit to hire your own team
A bit about you:
  • Educated to Bachelor’s degree level
  • A track record of closing deals and exceeding sales targets, ideally selling technology-based solutions in a start-up environment
  • A passion for the music business and an appreciation of streaming platforms’ and social networks’ roles in new talent discovery
  • An expert in the latest and greatest outbound prospecting practices and tools who relishes hunting for their own leads
  • Ability to autonomously lead sales processes at C-level through consultative-selling
  • Empathetic and curious – you genuinely want to ease clients’ pain points
  • Highly organised with the ability to juggle many client opportunities at any one time
  • Thrive on creatively overcoming the ambiguity often associated with start-ups and new products
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills and ability to build rapport at all levels
  • Analytical, with the decisions you make based on data wherever possible
  • An insatiable desire to improve yourself and the processes around you
  • Always thinking about overall team success, as well as your own
What Instrumental will do for you
  • Very competitive salary and uncapped commission
  • Opportunity to be fast-tracked into sales management with the opportunity to grow a team, dependent on your success
  • Options to partake in structured training and leadership development programmes, from our being a part of Blenheim Chalcot
  • A young, friendly and sociable team
  • A chance to join a start-up in ongoing, sustainable growth
  • Brand new office, only a few minutes’ walk from London Bridge
  • Regular team socials
