Head of Digital, Innovation and Marketing

Here at Hipgnosis we’re hiring this exciting position to join our song management team! With a proven track record in the digital space through a label or artist management background, we are looking for someone ready to move into this progressive and varied role overseeing digital strategies and emerging technologies, platforms and products.

Hipgnosis is one of the fastest growing managers of songs as an asset class in the world. Founded only four years ago, we now manage $2.5bn worth of music assets, including iconic song catalogues of artists (including Blondie, Chrissie Hynde, The Chainsmokers, Shakira, Neil Young, Justin Timberlake, Leonard Cohen) as well as the songwriter talent behind global artists like Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.

Disrupters in our market, we have made songs an investable asset class and brought Hipgnosis Songs Fund to the public market via an IPO on the London Stock Exchange in 2018 and have ambitions to acquire $5bn of catalogues over the next 2-3 years.

We not only acquire songs, we ensure our incredible songs are actively managed through all available platforms, channels and technologies and this role will play a key part in that ambition. We’re looking for an experienced, first-class Head of Digital, Innovation and Marketing to join us on this journey.

The Role

Responsible for maximising the reach, engagement and consumption of our songs and catalogues, engaging with new audiences and creating additional revenue streams and monetisation opportunities.

The role will leverage a broad network of contacts across the music and tech industry and a deep knowledge of digital platforms and innovation. It will be responsible for sourcing, identifying, forging and developing relationships and opportunities with new business partners and emerging technologies, and executing bespoke plans to deliver on our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Partner Relationships:

  • Managing and developing relationships with all streaming, digital and technology partners.
  • Maximising the best promotional opportunities with Digital Services
  • Providers (DSPs) globally.
  • Executing relationships and opportunities with Social Media Platforms eg Tiktok, Triller, Instagram, Snap etc.Delivering successful campaigns with influencers, creators, digital publishers and content partners.

Business Development:

  • Identifying and executing opportunities with new business partners and platforms e.g. Lickd, SongclipDelivering new revenue opportunities in the digital space e.g., Digital Merchandise.
  • Creating equitable partnerships with new platforms.
  • Delivering opportunities and maximising income from activities and campaigns in the gaming, esports and the metaverse.
  • Overseeing company strategy in the NFT, Digital Collectible and
  • Blockchain space, and boundary pushing activity.
  • Delivering creative marketing ideas and activations in the digital and tech space.
  • Nurture and expand the Hipgnosis ecosystem by leveraging emerging products, platforms and services.

Core Skills required for the job
  • Expertise in music and artist focused digital strategy
  • Experience in broad marketing disciplines
  • Broad network of contacts across Music, Digital Platforms and emerging technologies
  • Solid understanding of platforms and technology, and ability to recognise and deliver on their full market potential
  • Ability to develop long-lasting and impactful relationships with business partners
  • Deep knowledge of social media partners and platforms
  • Ability to analyse and act upon industry data and insight with strong market assessment capability
