Future Classic is an independent music company with offices in Los Angeles and Sydney. The company employs 16 staff spanning artist management, record label, and music publishing.
Future Classic is hiring a ‘Financial Controller’ to join its LA office. The position is full-time and requires a candidate with 3+ years accounting experience in a music “business management” role and/or directing the finance function across artists recording and touring activities.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Develop, maintain and update budgets and forecasts
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Manage the monthly/quarterly financial close processes, including financial statement preparation and analyses, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, etc.
Manage client service relationships with creative managers, artists and business managers directly.
Expense management, to include T&E control and overhead management
Market research analysis
REPORTING
Tour settlements including submission of required tax filings (e.g. CWA lodgment for USA touring).
Process quarterly/semi-annual label reporting for artists.
Oversee quarterly/semi-annual publishing reporting for artists.
Work with tax professionals to ensure proper and timely local, state and federal tax filings and reporting requirements.
TEAM LEADERSHIP
Hands on management of all accounting operations to include billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income tracking, general ledger maintenance.
Oversee bookkeeping activities
Project management, label, publishing & tour accounting for various artists.
Assist in implementing IT initiatives, including the possible implementation of a new royalty accounting system.
Develop and implement new procedures and processes to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the company and clients.
Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

Knowledge of Mac and Xero a plus
Education Required/Preferred:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance.
3+ years of experience in “business management” role dealing with touring, recording and music publishing financial reporting
Supervision experience required.
Knowledge of GAAP and AASB reporting requirements required.
Experience in a chartered environment or Big 4 CPA firm in auditing a plus
CA/CPA qualified or part qualified.
