Felt Music – Copyright & Royalties Manager (UK)

A hugely exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Felt Music as Copyright & Royalties Manager.

The perfect candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of music publishing across Felt’s production music, bespoke and commercial catalogues. This includes contract management, work registrations, royalty distributions & composer out-payments.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities –

Manage contracting, work registrations & royalty runs:

  • Ensure all releases are contracted in a timely manner
  • Ensure all works are correctly registered
  • Be the senior contact for all internal and external queries in relation to existing copyrights
  • Ensure that bi-annual royalty distributions are delivered accurately and in line with Felt’s contractual obligations
  • Day-to-day management, training and development of the company’s Copyright & Royalties Assistant

Manage global sub-publishing network:

  • Maintain existing relationships
  • Identify & evaluate opportunities in key unrepresented or hitherto underperforming markets

Royalty tracking & analysis:

  • Analyse royalty statements to monitor catalogue strength
  • Identify trends and patterns through both new and established review processes
  • Reconcile collections with a view to identifying/querying areas of potential underpayment
  • Constantly review processes to ensure that Felt’s copyrights continue to be effectively managed and that worldwide income collection remains at an optimal level
Desired Skills And Experience –
  • 3+ years working for a music publisher, preferably for a production library, bespoke music publisher or broadcaster
  • Line Management experience
  • Considerable expertise in navigating/interrogating the PRS for Music database
  • Good grasp of TV and advertising landscapes
  • Clear understanding of collective licensing, blanket agreements and the MCPS rate card
  • In-depth understanding of royalty distributions and the processes involved
  • Solid experience in EJNW & EJNA registrations
  • Experience in analysing and manipulating large sets of data using Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables etc)
  • Experience in working with music royalty systems, such as RoyaltyCloud or Music Maestro (desirable)
  • Familiarity with neighbouring rights administration & PPL’s distribution policy/schedule (desirable)
  • Desire to maintain a keen interest in music industry developments & new technologies – Strategic and commercially savvy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Highly analytical, detail-orientated and numbers-driven
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage varied projects simultaneously
  • Positive, energetic attitude and comfortable in a fast-moving environment – A love for music!
